Naming Participants
In the following example, the spreadsheet that accompanies this story includes the instrument that students will play with the band. A choral concert could include information like tenor, alto, soprano, etc. in place of the instrument.
Merit Title: [2017-18] [MU] [Jazz Band]
Merit Summary: [26] students have been named to the [Merit University] [Jazz Band] for [2017-18] under the direction of conductor [John Smith].
Theatre Production
In the following example, the spreadsheet that accompanies this story includes the role that students will play in the production. The text here must be written to fit into the following sentence: " [Last Name] is [role] the production." Here are some examples:
- "directing"
- "playing the role of Rocket in"
- "a crew member for"
Merit Title: [MU Theatre Group] Presents ["Groot: The Musical"]
Merit Summary: The [Merit University Theatre Group] will present ["Groot: The Musical"] on [Nov. 9-12]. [The musical comedy follows Groot, an alien tree, as he searches the galaxy for somebody who understands him.]
In the following example, the spreadsheet that accompanies this story includes the instruments that students will play in the production.
Merit Title: [MU Concert Band] Presents ["Back to the Future: A Time Travel Odyssey"]
Merit Summary: The [Merit University] [Concert Band] will perform [ "Back to the Future: A Time Travel Odyssey" ] on [Nov. 9-12]. [The performance mixes music from the movie trilogy with songs from 1965, 1985 and 2015.]
Senior Recital
In the following example, the spreadsheet that accompanies this story includes the instrument that students will play as well as the name of their piece.
Merit Title: Students Perform Senior Recitals
Merit Summary: [126] seniors in the [Merit University] [Musical Arts Program] will distinguish their final semesters with capstone performances.
Musical Competition
Merit Title: [Merit University] Students Take [Second Place] in the [BESPIN Music Competition]
Merit Summary: [Twelve] [Merit University] music students took [second place] in the [BESPIN Music Competition]. The group performed in the [Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion event].
Art Exhibit
In the following example, this story includes a custom paragraph describing the exhibition.
Merit Title: Students Display Works in [Merit University] [Senior Art Exhibit]
Merit Summary: [Seven] [Merit University] students will present individual exhibitions based on the skills, interests and inspirations they’ve developed over the past four years.
Film Screening
In the following example, the spreadsheet that accompanies this story includes the name of the student's film and a full-sentence description of the film.
Merit Title: Students Present Films at [Merit University] Film Festival
Merit Summary: [Four] films by [Merit University] arts students will screen at the [MU Student Film Festival] on [Date].
