Delete an achievement
In the rare cases where your list of students contained completely inaccurate information (like incorrect names, hometowns, emails or zip codes), you may need to delete your achievement all together.
Keep in mind that you should only delete a story if it absolutely needs to be deleted. If you're unsure if you should delete an achievement, give us a call at 800-552-2194 or email us at help@meritpages.com.
If you do need to delete an achievement or issue a retraction, here are some steps for fixing the problem:
- 1
Locate the achievement
Click on any achievement on the Achievements page to view the engagement report for that story:
- 2
Delete the achievement
There you will see a Delete button on the right hand side:
- 3
Add a note to the media
You will be taken to a screen that describes what will happen if you delete the story. If the original story was also sent to the media, you'll be prompted to add a message for any affected local media:
Clicking Delete Achievement will remove all of the student stories from Merit and undo any changes to students' accounts that occurred as a result of the original story being published.
Note: If you plan to publish a corrected version of this story, you may want to copy the original achievement before deleting it. This will give you a template to work with instead of starting over again from scratch.
