Approving Submitted Achievements

Your Merit account includes a feature called the Approval Workflow which can be enabled at any time. Learn more about activating the Approval Workflow here. It allows you to give a select few members of your team editorial control of which achievements get published through your Merit account.

The Approval Workflow allows you to break your users up into two groups: Approvers, who are able to write, review and publish stories on behalf of your institution, and users whose drafts need approval from a designated approver before their release.

This page summarizes the experience for these two groups:

The Submitter Experience

Users whose stories need permission before they go out will have access to the very same workflow as all other users. For these users, the Publish button at the very end of the preview process will be replaced with a Submit for Approval button:

The Approver Experience

When a user who needs approval submits a story, the appropriate person at your institution will be notified by email that a story is awaiting their approval:

The approver can either follow the link in their email or log in at any time. Upon logging in, they will see an alert on their Dashboard letting them know there is an achievement awaiting their approval:

The story can be found in the Tasks section under the Achievements tab inside their account. From there, they can click Review to preview and publish the achievement:

The approver will then be taken into the Preview stage of the achievement workflow where they can review each part of the submitted story. Here they can Edit, Reject or Publish the achievement:

If the approver rejects the achievement, the story will become a draft inside your account. It can be reviewed and resubmitted at any time by visiting the Drafts section under the Achievements tab.

Note: All published stories will still be sent to the Merit team for review before they finally go out. They will remain in the In Review state until they are published by Merit's editors.
