Step 3: Write a Personalized Story

This guide will walk you through creating personalized online Merit achievements. Go back to learn more about the types of stories you can write.

It's best to use the personalized achievements option any time you are sharing a story about 5 or more students. This version of your story will be similar to a mail merge, using a mix of templated text and personalized data.

To begin writing a personalized story, choose the Yes option:

This will prompt you to create personalized stories for your students. Throughout this version of your story, you will insert placeholders for custom data from your spreadsheet. To add a placeholder to your story, use a dropdown box to select a column from your spreadsheet and click the Insert Placeholder button:

This will insert a placeholder for this data set at the location of your cursor. You can use as many placeholders as needed in your story title and body:

Note: The placeholders that you use will look like the above example until your story is ready to go out. When the story is published, Merit will replace these placeholders with each student's personalized text.
