Sharing Credentials Through Merit

Merit's certificate feature allows you to share the successes of your students as they complete courses and gain credentials in various fields of expertise.

To take advantage of the feature, you'll just need to create a certificate background image the same way that you would create a certificate for Dean's List or President's List. Your institution likely already has somebody that creates these documents, so start by checking to see what kind of certificates you regularly provide students. In most cases, you can easily reuse those images.

Here's an example of a background image for a networking certificate:

To share these certificates through Merit, you'll just want to go to the Settings > Certificates tab inside your account. There you will see the Add Certificate button:

When adding your certificate, you will want to choose the Credentials category and give your certificate a name that will help you identify it in a list a later time:

You can create as many certificates for credentials as you may need.

You can then create a new achievement about the course that you want to share certificates for. In Step 1 of the achievement workflow you will want to chose the Credentials category. This will then bring up a drop down box that displays all of your available certificates that use the Credentials category:

Simply choose the one that you want to use for this story. When your achievement goes out, a printable and shareable certificate will accompany your achievement:
