In Step 1 of Merit's achievement workflow, you configured your achievement landing page.
In Step 2, you will add students to your achievement. This guide will walk you through adding students to an achievement without the use of a spreadsheet.
Search and Add Students
Adding students to an achievement manually is the best way to add a smaller group of students (or an individual) to a story. To add your saved students to your story, click the Add Students Manually button:
Please note that your students should be saved in Merit before adding them to an achievement.
Here you can use the search box to look for a person by name, email address or hometown:
This will display a list of matching students who have existing Merit pages. Click the Add button next to the student you want to include:
That person will now appear on your list of students:
Pro Tip: You can click on the silhouette to the left of any student to upload a headshot or individual photo for that person. Learn more about adding student headshots.
Advanced Search
The achievement workflow also includes an Advanced Search feature, which you can access by clicking the link in the search bar:
This link will take you to a screen where you can add students in bulk. Use the blue boxes and Search box to locate students using one or more fields of Merit data. Then click the Add to Achievement button to add all of the students listed here to your list:
Edit Student Data
Once students are added to your achievement, you can double-click in any cell to alter the saved Merit data for a student:
Add a Column of Variables
If your story requires the use of a variable that is not saved in Merit, you can use the box below to enter the name of a new column and click Add:
The new column will be added to the end of your list. Double-click in any cell to add data for an individual student:
Add a Student Without a Merit Page
If you try to add a student to a story and discover they do not have an existing Merit page, you can create a new page for them here. Click the +Student button to manually add a new student:
Double-click in a cell to enter the student's information in each corresponding column:
Remove a Student From Your List
You can remove any of the students who were added to your list by checking the box next to the person and clicking the - Remove Students button:
Incomplete Student Records
Any students who are missing information required by Merit will be highlighted in red on your list. You can scroll to the right to see a brief description of the error:
Note: Students who have opted out of Merit will also be listed as errors.
