Delete an Achievement

Here you will learn how to completely delete a previously sent achievement. In most cases, you should only delete an achievement if your list of students contained a large volume of inaccurate information (incorrect names, hometowns, emails or zip codes) that cannot be corrected through other methods.

Deleting an achievement will undo any changes that were made to students' accounts as a result of the original story being published. It will also remove each student's online story, causing the email notifications that students previously received to no longer work. Any students who were added to Merit for the first time through your achievement will be deleted.

Please note that deleted achievements CANNOT be recovered. If you're unsure if you should delete an achievement, contact us at help@meritpages.com or 800-552-2194.

Before deleting your achievement, you may want to copy the original story to ensure that you have a story template ready in case you need to reissue the story. Learn how to create a copy here.

To delete an achievement, locate the story on either the Achievements tab or your Dashboard and click on the story title card:

This will open up the achievement's engagement report. Here on the right side of your screen, you will want to click the Delete Achievement button:

You will be taken to a screen that describes what will happen if you delete the story:

If the original story was sent to local media, you'll be prompted to add a message for anyone affected by the deletion. After customizing this message, click Delete Achievement to remove the achievement and all students' stories:
