Any mention discovered through Merit AI can be turned into a Merit achievement recognizing the identified students. This allows you to share the story (which originally appeared on your website) with students, parents, local media, government reps and high schools.
To get started, click on a Merit AI discovery to view more information about the story. This will display a summary of the story and a list of matching Merit students:
Click the Achievement button at the bottom of this page:
Please note that if the mention came from an external website, you will not see the Achievement button.
This will take you into Merit's achievement workflow. The text and images from the online discovery will be automatically added for you. The article's headline and opening paragraph will become your achievement title and summary:
Note: Depending upon your feed, your pre-filled text may include some source code from the original article. Remove any text that does not belong here.
Your list of students will be pre-filled using the names of the students who were identified in the story. It's possible Merit AI may have missed students, but you can add more students using the search box above your list:
Note: Merit AI does not account for students' nicknames. For example, if the student was identified as Dave in your Merit AI discovery, but their Merit account uses David, Merit will not automatically add the student. In this scenario, you would want to manually add the person to your achievement.
The text from the Merit AI discovery will automatically become your achievement headline and body. The pre-filled achievement will be text-only and will not require placeholders. You can change this if necessary:
Note: The pre-filled text that appears here often includes source code and page elements from the original article. Review your text throughout the achievement workflow carefully. Remove any datelines, extra spacing between paragraphs, special characters, or text specific to the webpage.
The images from your online discovery will be automatically loaded for you, but you can add more images or remove them if necessary:
As with any achievement, you can elect to share this story with local media, government representatives, and high schools. If you choose to share the achievement with local newspapers, you will want to double-check to make sure that the body of your story includes mention of each of the students' hometowns. Newspapers will not run the story without this information, and many times students' hometowns are omitted from stories that appear in institutional RSS feeds:
