Student Welcome Emails and FERPA Policy URL

When a new Merit page is created for a student, they will receive a Welcome to Merit email. Student pages are created when a person is included either in a student import or an achievement for the first time.

Each welcome email contains a personalized welcome message, as well as a link that will log them into their Merit account. Here's a sample welcome email:

Edit Your Welcome Email

To customize your welcome email, go to the Emails section under the Settings tab and scroll down to the Student Welcome Email block:Screen_Shot_2022-11-09_at_12.55.28_PM.png

Your default welcome email text will include a {{name}} field. It will be replaced with the student's name in the final sent email. Make any changes you'd like to the text of your welcome email and click Update when you're finished.

Pro Tip: You can add links to your welcome email if needed. To do so, use the "hyperlink" button in the top left-hand corner of the text editor.

Sending Welcome Emails in Bulk

If any of your students have NOT yet received a welcome email, you will see a red button under the welcome email text editor. This will only appear if you have performed a student import but chose not to email your students at that time. Click the Send Welcome Emails button to immediately send these students their personalized welcome message:

Add a Link to Your Institution's FERPA Policy

Privacy is always important to your students. You can share your school's FERPA/privacy policy with students through your welcome email.

To add a FERPA link to your welcome email, go to the Emails section under the Settings tab and scroll down to the FERPA Policy URL block:

This will add a hyperlink to the footer of any achievement or welcome emails you send to students. If your institution does not have a URL listed in this setting, the phrase "FERPA Policy" will not be hyperlinked.
