Here you will find the most basic information that typically appears in student achievements. This page provides some tips and tricks for including the most common placeholders in your Merit achievements.
First Names, Last Names and Hometowns
The bare minimum you will need for placeholders in any story are the person's first name, last name and hometown. Please keep in mind you will still need a few additional fields (email addresses and zip codes) in your spreadsheet.
- [John] [Smith], of [Albany], enrolled at Merit University.
- [Albany] resident [John] [Smith] enrolled at Merit University.
Majors and Classifications
In addition to students' names and hometowns, their majors and class years frequently appear in their achievements. When adding these fields you will need to include a matching [major] and/or [classification] column in your spreadsheet. Here are a few suggestions for writing a sentence that includes all of this information:
- [John] [Smith], a [senior] [English] major from [Albany], was named to the Dean's List.
- [John] [Smith], of [Albany], a [senior] [English] major at MU, was named to the Dean's List.
- [Albany] resident [John] [Smith], a [senior] [English] major, was named to the Dean's List.
- [Albany] [senior] [John] [Smith], majoring in [English] at MU, was named to the Dean's List.

High Schools
If your institution collects information about students' high schools, you can add them to your achievements quite easily. You'll need to have a column for [High School] in your spreadsheet. Here are a few suggestions for writing a sentence that includes all of this information:
- [John] [Smith], of [Albany], a graduate of [Albany High School] enrolled at Merit University.
- [Albany] resident, and [Albany High School] graduate, [John] [Smith] enrolled at Merit University.
